Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to provide Project Administration Analysis support to NOAA's research laboratory in Boulder, CO. This position provides Library Outreach and Marketing, Librarian duties within the libraries, and Library Technology Services support in the Public Services area of the Boulder Labs Library. This position is also responsible for providing general reference and research support; bibliometrics, data visualization, and electronic publishing; along with supporting projects and programs to facilitate access to library collections and resources.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Outreach and Marketing:
    • Lead and facilitate overall outreach strategy, while gaining input from the entire library team.
    • Create marketing and outreach materials for the library, including flyers and brochures for upcoming events and resources.
    • Coordinate with NOAA Central Library on communications outreach to NOAA patrons, including outreach events such as Open Houses and virtual events; library trainings and webinars; and other meetings.
    • Represent the library at the Boulder Outreach Coordinating Committee
    • Develop and help distribute monthly library e-news to share library updates with patrons using Constant Contact.
    • Develop and create rotating slide decks on library services and resources to be displayed in the digital displays at the library locations.
    • Create templates and branding for letters, annual reports.
    • General administrative duties; responding to patron inquiries and answer reference questions, sending introductory emails to new Boulder Labs staff, and sending weekly library news updates.
  • Bibliometrics:
    • Create bibliometric reports alongside the librarian team to meet the data needs of researchers on campus via- D3.JS, google charts, Web of Science, InCites (Clarivate Analytics- cloud-based data visualization tool), and other approved data visualization tools & libraries.
    • Identify targeted publications and citation data and create bibliometrics reports for the organization's individuals and groups.
  • Library Duties:
    • Assist in staffing both locations of the library at the Boulder Campus, including desk and operational duties at both locations.
    • Help library users via phone, email, and in-person.
    • Assist staff with data collection on materials used, individuals that enter the spaces, and other traffic information.
    • Meet weekly with the librarian team to discuss new situations and ideas for the library.
    • Attend monthly organization-wide librarians' meetings.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of subject matter experience is required.
  • Must have the ability to lead and report progress of projects to management. Works independently to handle challenges with little oversight and may have overall responsibility for some programs or processes.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with project participants and have effective oral and written English communication skills.
  • Project management knowledge and skills recommended.
  • Must possess skills to assist with planning projects, organizing meetings, critiquing project documents, and developing presentations.
  • Must be able to keep current on the latest government policies, processes, rules, and regulations affecting accomplishment of tasks.

Work Setting and Environment:

  • Monday through Friday, normal business hours.
  • David Skaggs Research Center 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO 80305 (temporarily remote due to COVID-19).
  • On-site federal contractors, in federal buildings or on federal lands must comply with CDC guidelines with respect to wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and other public health measures.
